I have decided to join the blogging world! I have so many blogs I love to read that I just had to join in the fun.
Let Me Introduce Myself
I am Jessica, a stay at home Mom to an almost 3 year old (as of April 16th). She is such an amazing young lady (I'm not biased at all). She is a strong willed, brilliant, beautiful, ever questioning toddler. Though some of these traits drive me crazy some days, I feel confident they will serve her well in life. My days are spent with her reading books, crafting, playing, and exploring. She is truly the best, most challenging and rewarding job I have EVER had.
I am married to my bestest buddy in the whole world. We've been at this marriage thing for 5 years now and been together for a total of 9 years. We have been through many wonderful and many trying times and have come out stronger on the other side. He supports (well most days) all of my crazy ideas and never gives more than a head shake when more fabric arrives in the mail.
I LOVE to sew. I have watched my Mom sew all my life but never took much interest until The Bug (Miss Salem's nickname) was born. I kept seeing all these wonderful children's cloths and decided I was going to learn. I'm a do it NOW kinda girl so, I went out that very day, bought a sewing machine and got started. I didn't buy a book, didn't take a lesson, I just did it! I learned to sew a straight line making Un-paper towels for myself (ahh...still love these...want some?....get them in my shop HERE). Then promptly moved on to dresses for The Bug. It has been a bit of an addiction since then. I now have an Etsy shop that mostly contains green household goods (reusable Swiffer pads, snapping un-paper towels, tiny wipes) and a few girly items (pinkytail flair a.k.a headbands and bows, reversible jackets, and clothing). My goal is to grow this shop and offer many more girly options in the future (you know....as The Bug needs me less...sob sob).
In my former life (pre-Bug-life) I was an operating room nurse. I LOVED what I did, I LOVED learning new things every day, I LOVED being challenged, I LOVED learning how our amazing bodies work, and I LOVED the people I worked with (miss you MPH girls). So, about the number 1 question I get asked these days (besides when am I having another child) is don't you miss working? NO, no I don't. I say that with complete confidence because what is better or more fulfilling than spending my days watching The Bug grow and molding her into the most excellent young lady she is becoming and I get to spend my free time creating. Also, it doesn't hurt that I don't have to be anywhere at 6:45am or deal with people who have a God complex.
Okay....what are Pinkytails?
Pinkytails are pigtails or ponytails. My niece started it when she was a little one and it stuck with my family (okay....maybe just me). I love pinkytails, they are just fabulous.....on everyone....yes, even you! I love them long, short, curly, straight, decorated, undecorated....you name it I love them. When I was pregnant I dreamed about pinkytails on The Bug and couldn't wait to scrape up enough hair to place those two fabulous sprout on her head.....SEE BELOW...
That was such a proud day for me! The Bug's pinkytails have evolved a bit over time but I love them all the same....
Barely There
Very Palm Tree-like
With pretty bows
With curly bows

Animal ear pinky tails (note Mother/Daughter pinkytails)

I even LOVE them on me. I had crazy long hair until about 9 months ago and the super long braided pinkytails were my fave (note matching Mother/Daughter pinkytails again)
I give them a try, even now, with my shorter do. We had oh so much fun as Cinderella, Drizella, and Prince Charming this past Halloween (Cinderella and Drizella made by yours truly).

No one is safe from pinkytails in my presence....
Bella (ain't she cute...yeah...she is just as annoying as she is cute!)
Stoli (my other child)
I could go on and on with pics but I'll spare you and stop there.
My Plan
My PLAN is to post about my current (and maybe past) projects, including DIY tutorials. I will feature items, new and old, from my Etsy shop and likely host some giveaways. I will post about the things we do in our house to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Last but not least, I will document The Bug's growth and my adventures in motherhood. Disclaimer: this is just a plan and always subject to change!
Wow! That was crazy long. One more thing you should know.......I love ellipses.....yeah....I know......sorry!
